Marcia Hopa - Te Tai Tokerau Delegate
Marcia Hopa is a member of the Te Matatini National Board as the elected Te Tai Tokerau delegate.
She is one of three hosts and producer of the E Ara e Mara Breakfast show on Ngāti Hine FM. She also co-hosts, produces, and directs Kōrero the Podcast, which has gone global and ranks among the Top 100 Podcasts in Aotearoa and Australia.
Marcia is a business owner and sole director of Niwha Collective Ltd. A Māori-led enterprise spanning retail, media, and design.
Marcia holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Auckland (2011) and a Bachelor of Māori Performing Arts from Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi (2012). Her skillset also includes qualifications and professional development in graphic design, radio, youth work, television, emceeing, and teaching Te Reo Māori and kapa haka.
Marcia loves to travel and tries to do so as much as she can. Her current vlogging projects can be found on her social media pages under Maahi ki Tāwāhi, following her adventures all over the world.
Marcia was born into kapa haka, growing up immersed in groups like Te Huinga Waka and Te Waka Huia, where she gained early exposure, learning opportunities, and valuable experiences. Since 2000, she has led and been part of the tutorship and leadership of Hātea Kapa Haka and has performed at every Te Matatini since 2002.
