Youth Development
Our sustainable future depends on developing effective leaders, specialists and communities who will ensure the continuation of our kaupapa. Our contribution to youth development prepares our youth members for tomorrow's challenges, while sustaining a strong cultural identity that adds value to society.
Te Hiranga - Te Ao Haka Top Scholarship
Te Hiranga Te Ao Haka Top Scholarship Award recognises excellence in Māori performing arts through Te Ao Haka. Our partnership with NZQA has provided the perfect opportunity to invest in the development of rangatahi active in Te Ao Haka.
Our sustainable future depends on developing effective leaders, specialists and communities who will ensure the continuation of our kaupapa. By contributing to the development of our youth, it can help prepare them for tomorrow’s challenges, while sustaining a strong cultural identity that adds value to society.
We are particularly interested in increasing participation by youth in kapa haka communities, increasing kaihaka transitioning from school to senior groups, and youth development pathways.
Te Ao Haka is available at all three levels of NCEA and can count towards University Entrance requirements if ākonga achieve 14 or more credits at NCEA Level 3. Te Ao Haka will continue to be offered at New Zealand Scholarship level. Visit the NZQA website for more information.
