WHO’S IN OUR TEAM
Te Matatini Society Incorporation has a hard working whānau who keep the organisation operating and responsive to rohe needs.
The governance body is led by its Chairman, Selwyn Parata through the Executive Committee a smaller representative group of the National Board which comprises delegates from each of the thirteen rohe included in Te Matatini.
The national office is based in Wellington and is the workplace for a small staff team led by Chief Executive, Carl Ross.
Te Matatini acknowledges the long service and standing of our Patron, Kiingi Tuheitia and our life members.
TE ARIKINUI KIINGI TUHEITIA POOTATAU TE WHEROWHERO VII
OUR PATRON
Our Te Matatini patron is the Māori King – Te Arikinui Kiingi Tuheitia Pootatau Te Wherowhero VII.
The current Māori monarch, Tuheitia Paki, was elected in 2006 and his official residence is Tūrongo House at Tūrangawaewae marae in the town of Ngaruawahia.
Kiingi Tuheitia is the seventh monarch since the position was created and is the continuation of a dynasty that reaches back to the inaugural king, Pootatau Te Wherowhero.

Tangihia o tātau mate huhua kua ngaro atu i te tirohanga kanohi, rārangi maunga ka tu tonu, rārangi tangata ka ngaro noa. TE MATATINI IS GOVERNED BY A NATIONAL BOARD.
NATIONAL BOARD
The National Committee is made up of delegates from each of the 13 affiliated rohe and Te Matatini Chairperson.
REGIONAL COMMITTEES
Te Matatini is made up of 13 regional committees supporting over 130 kapa haka teams. These regions cover the whole of Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia.
Each regional committee co-ordinates kapa haka events and activities within its area. One delegate from each committee is elected to the National Committee. The regional delegate is responsible for sharing information between their rohe and the governing body of Te Matatini.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The Executive Committee is a smaller panel of delegates chosen from the National Committee who meet more regularly and prepare recommendations for the National Committee.
The Executive comprises the Chairman, four delegates elected by the National Committee, and the delegate of the host region for the upcoming festival.
