Te Matatini Herenga Waka Herenga Tangata National Kapa Haka Festival 2022 will be broadcast live on Te Reo Tātaki o Aotearoa – Television New Zealand. Te Matatini Herenga Waka Herenga Tangata National Kapa Haka Festival will be held from 22 – 26 of February 2022 at Eden Park (Ngā Ana Wai) in Tāmaki Makaurau. In April 2021 Te Matatini signed a relationship agreement with Te Reo Tātaki – Television New Zealand, to return all of Te Matatini archival footage dating back to 1972.
This agreement included the assignment of all intellectual property interests, including copyright, in those archives to Te Matatini to take care of on behalf of kapa haka and rohe. This is part of an overall programme that Te Matatini National Board and AKHL is working on with key partners and is seeking their cooperation to return these archives (including all IP rights) currently held and owned by external parties back to Te Matatini Negotiation are ongoing with the all various parties involved and discussions are all positive.
