ROHE WHAKANGAHAU 2020/2021 EVENTS

Updated: Aug 14, 2023

During this unprecendented time, Te Matatini has worked in partnership with the Ministry for Culture and Heritage, to work on filling the void that has been created from the rescheduling of Te Matatini Herenga Waka Herenga Tangata Festival from 2021 to 2022.

The National Board acknowledges how this void can impact on the wellness of our people.

To this end, we would like to announce that a programme of 12 Kapa Haka ngāhau events will be supported to replace the rescheduled Te Matatini 2021 Festival.

We are extremely grateful for the leadership shown by the Ministers and their offices to ensure that Te Matatini can continue to support the growth and development of kapa haka, both in our regions and across the motu.

We also look forward to working with our rohe in hosting these events and provide opportunities for audiences to experience live Kapa Haka.
