Dr Rawiri Tinirau

Rohe Committee

Te Kāhui Maunga Regional Kapa Haka Committee

Rohe Chairman

The objective of Te Kāhui Maunga Regional Kapa Haka Committee is to further augment the work of its predecessor (Aotea Māori Performing Arts Committee), to assist with the implementation, promotion, enhancement, fostering and continual development of traditional Māori performing arts, particularly those aspects which are indigenous and unique to the Aotea region.

Responsibility to your Rohe:

The role of Māngai is depicted in the meaning as a ‘mouth-piece’, integral to communicate the aspirations and concerns of Aotea Rohe to Te Matatini from a regional perspective, and in turn from the national body to the region. The Māngai provides extra communiqué support to the Aotea qualifiers, ensuring that their journey as Aotea representatives to Te Matatini is as smooth as possible

Rohe boundaries:

The Aotea Rohe embraces the Taranaki/Whanganui district encompassing the traditional waka boundaries of Aotea, Kurahaupo and Tokomaru.
