Taking Haka To The World
Te Matatini is often invited to send top Kapa Haka teams to major international events. The honour of representing the best of Kapa Haka on the world stage is usually given to the current winners of the Te Matatini National Festival. Sometimes, depending on the event and funding, the top two or three festival teams may be sent to an event.
July 25th - August 10th
Ōpōtiki Mai Tawhiti represent NZ at the Howkan Global Indigenous Peoples Arts Festival in Taiwan.
May 22nd - June 4th
Te Whānau ā Apanui travel to Guam with a 100 strong delegation from Aotearoa to the 12th Festival of Pacific Arts.
March 31st - April 2nd
Te Whānau ā Apanui represent Aotearoa at the 53rd Merrie Monarch festival in Hilo, Hawaii.
February 18th - 21st
200 Te Matatini performers take centre stage at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo performances at the Westpac Stadium, Wellington.
February 12th - 16th
Te Whānau ā Apanui and Ōpōtiki Mai Tawhiti represent Aotearoa at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo performances in Melbourne.
