The National Committee is the governance board for Te Matatini and is made up of delegates from each of the thirteen rohe. The principal task of the committee is to formulate policy and support Te Matatini to advocate on behalf of Kapa Haka nationally. Its key outputs are to:
present and approve a 3-5 year Business Plan, mapping the future direction for Te Matatini and its objectives;
present and approve an Annual Business Plan to submit to Ministry of Culture and Heritage for funding to carry out Te Matatini business; and
formulate, present and approve policy documents to support the Te Matatini Annual Plan, Business Plan, and Management Plans.
